Can't this baby just be given iron supplements?  Why is weaning
necessary?

My two year old son was recently put on iron.  This didn't surprise me
as he is an extremely picky eater.  I am glad he is still nursing.  I
don't believe that weaning him would result in him eating a more varied
diet.  I think, in my son's case, that if I weaned him, he would simply
eat more of the other foods he will eat, and with a lack of breast milk,
his nutritional health would be worse off.
