We recently counseled a breastfeeding woman who was experiencing lassitude
and hot flashes (mostly at night).  Her physician told her that breastfeeding
was "sucking all the estrogen from her body".  We took a history, suggested
she see her internist who diagnosed her with a thyroid problem.  Can you
imagine?
