I'm looking for suggestions on how others handle these situations (permission to post)
1. Client was told by pediatrician to supplement (sent home with a free can) due to low weight gain. Note weight gain was still in acceptable range.
2. Client with 4 week old exclusively breastfed and gaining well but began spitting up quite a bit. Client went to see a NP and was asked what color her milk was when she pumped. She responded a little yellow. NP told her she had an "milk infection" and that she should stop breastfeeding. Now 10 days later she wants to relactate because she didn't really want to stop.
So how do you guys handle educating or sending information to health care professionals in an effort to possibly educate but also gain a working relationship with them?
Does anyone have a great letter or informational sheet that could be sent to health care professionals in the area?
Thank you so much for any information or suggestions
