This mom needs to be made aware that it is ok to grieve after a surgical
delivery, that it is recognized as a child bearing loss, there are even support
groups and books on it. I went through it 28 years ago and it was horrible
and until I met others who felt the same way and got away from people who said
"what are you upset about, you have a healthy baby" and "oh, c/section is the
easy way to go", I was unable to recognize that it was ok. I make sure I go
over potential feelings with c/section moms and let them know that they
shouldn't feel silly for grieving. So many of the staff nurses don't know about it
either which makes it even harder for these moms. Sherry Weersing RNC
