Most doctors need CME (continuing medical education) hours in order to
maintain licenser or hospital privileges. If you could get your symposium to
qualify you would probably draw in at least a few people. Push "free CME!" on
your flyer.

Also, if you can get the doc who is the local department head supporting you,
they might be willing to call people personally and invite them. Or maybe
your physician speaker could make some calls.
