How could a baby who is taking Diflucan go from great improvement of his
thrush to a full-blown case again? He is 4 months old and has had thrush
since birth. I have been working with him for about 2 weeks.

Mom has had only mild sore nipples and no symptoms of intraductal yeast.
Her treatment has been limited to Gentian Violet and Jack's All Purpose
Nipple Ointment.

When baby has thrush he doesn't feed eagerly, has congestion in his throat,
and is gassy and irritable. He improved a lot with Gentian Violet, and
with the Diflucan, he was really fine. Mom said that he had never been so
relaxed and happy. Then one week after he began the Diflucan, he woke up
one morning and wouldn't eat well. When mom checked his mouth the thrush
was back.

Puzzling. Have any of you had similar experience?
