Here is LLLI Headquarter's official response to inquiries about the
hydrous lanolin mailing received recently by some LLL Leaders:

La Leche League International rented a portion of its mailing list to
Fougera, a manufacturer of over-the-counter topical ointments.  The
mailing includes information on a variety of topical products and a
sample of Lanolin Hydrous.  This product can be used for a variety of
skin conditions.

The only lanolin product that La Leche League International endorses is
Lansinoh for Breastfeeding Mothers.  It is the purest and safest brand
of USP modified lanolin available.  It can safely be used to soothe and
heal sore nipples and does not have to be removed before feedings.  We
regreat any misunderstanding this mailing from Fougera may have caused.
