This is just one of a thousand messages that something about women (and
the equipment they are born with, like brains and breasts) are not
right, don't work, are insufficient, etc. It is related, also, to the
impression a baby can get about not having the "right fit" with his
healthy, attached mother. "Other people can do a better job" seems to be
a common justification for not doing what we do best -- whatever that is
(I *do* know that it includes adoring, breastfeeding, caring, and the
rest of the alphabet of mothering.)
