On the thread of 4am births.` Many years ago my mother (a midwife) told of the following story with glee.

After several nightime callouts the local OB complained "why do all these births always happen at night?" The midwives on duty laughed and replied that what started at night, ended at night. 

So of course there was much amusement when the OB's own baby arrived the following week just after noon!
