I did a LACTNET search looking for information on cup feeding protocols and
mostly got posts from the 1995 era with some phone and fax numbers that may
be of some help if they are still "good." A couple of the email addresses
I've tried already have come back undeliverable. I am trying to assemble
this info for a colleague on the Clallam Co Breastfeeding TaskForce who is
a nurse at a hospital in neighboring Jefferson County that not only has no
such protocol, but nurses are also NOT ALLOWED to cup feed infants at all.
She is looking for supporting information to state the case in favor of cup
feeding.

One reference I found in my search was a letter from Dr. Ruth Lawrence.
>From the original post:
>A mimeographed letter was passed out
>signed by Ruth Lawrence, who had visited here last year.
>
>Dr. Lawrence endorsed cup feeding, and says so plain and simple in the
>letter...which is on Univ of Roch. stationery.

Does anyone still have a copy of this letter available? The original poster
(K. Bruce) did not have it.
Any other information on establishing a protocol for cup feeding would also
be very much appreciated. I am trying to convince my colleague to "get
connected" and join LACTNET, but she is computer-phobic. But perhaps soon!

Thanks all,

Nancy Kramer
Sad about our "dying" BF bill here...:-(
