Definitely this baby would benefit from breastmilk. Although I don't know
exactly when the baby will start taking food by mouth, it will eventually
need to eat. The surgery is to close the abdominal wall and does not affect
digestion directly. I've worked prenatally with several moms of baby's with
omphaloceles, most of whom provided breastmilk for their babies while tube
fed and directly breastfed once the baby was ready.
