About food elimination and colic. Dairy tends to be the most common culprit. I
always start with that and ask a mom if she or the baby's father have any food
allergies/sensitivities. If the answer is yes, I'll suggest she eliminate that
food as well. I never suggest more than two foods at once (initially) as it
can overwhelm some mothers. It generally can take 7-10 days for all the
proteins causing the allergy to leave the mom's milk. Sometimes (as in my
case) there is a noticeable change within 24 hours.

I must make a plug for Chiropractic and colic relief. A study done in Denmark
of 316 colicky babies found that after 2 weeks and 3 specific Chiropractic
adjustments 94% of the mothers reported a reduction in colicky symptoms or the
colic was completely gone. I have found gentle and specific Chiropractic
adjustments to help with other breastfeeding problems as well.
