Other sibs, (and grands/aunts/uncles, even fathers!) will enjoy cuddling and
playing with the breastfed baby because she smells sweet, even when her
diaper is soiled, or if she spits up. Her skin is soft and silky and she is
more likely to be awake and alert at shorter intervals because she is not
needing to devote all her energy to working at digesting a less appropriate
food.

I am not a devotée of delegating household drudgery to siblings, (someone
suggested this) and wouldn't expect them to get to know the baby by any
other way than spending time with her. Babies are fascinated by children
and vice versa. Most Norwegian children just look at you like you have two
heads if you suggest they feed the baby. 'I can't do that! MY breasts
don't have milk in them!' Doh. They do breastfeed their dolls, and their
pets, frequently.

And, we don't discuss 'choice' of feeding method in pregnancy. Just as we
may ask a pregnant woman what expectations she has for labor, we may ask
what her expectations are about breastfeeding. Or we just don't ask. Would
you ask someone if they were planning to perspire or just spray themselves
down with a water bottle to cool off?
I rest my case.

can anyone tell I am procrastinating madly about what I should be doing
right now, which is NOT reading Lactnet? Or maybe the same cosmic rays have
hit me and Kathy D today!
