Also, if the sore is at the very corner of the mouth, it is possible to get a sore that looks *very* like a cold sore but is related to the salt in saliva drying on the lip and causing the person to lick it and then it dries and then they lick it and then it dries and .... The result really can look like a cold sore even when you know what you're looking for.
