Go to Google Scholar and enter the word "enteromammary" -- you'll find
plenty of info. There are demonstrated neurological/hormonal benefits to
being at the breast as well -- some cortisol studies and neuro studies are
available. Light, time, cold, freezing, and heating all are known to cause
the degredation of various vitamins in pumped milk, and oxidation of those
vitamins and minerals that were meant to be valuable anti-oxidants, as well
as lipid oxidation which eventually leads to more-directly-cancer-causing
components as well as no longer providing the appropriate beneficial forms
of fatty acids. The immune-providing probiotics in breastmilk are damaged
by freeze/thawing as well.

Still certainly far superior to formula, I've always considered stored
human milk as a far second to fresh.
