Gee, I never knew that my inability to sleep with children in my bed
reflected my avoidance of intimacy. I was glad that Dr. Sears considered
mothers having baby in a bassinette inches away, filling his definition of
shared sleep. I was too aware of babies to sleep soundly. They came into
bed, maybe even on my chest, only when they would not sleep otherwise. We
did well to survive an unsupportive, harsh environment, illness and 3 high
need babies. They were carried and responded to instantly. I couldn't get
my usual 4 hours if they were in my bed. My hyperawareness runs in the
family. Dad said Mom wouldn't wake if the house would burn down, but just
let the blanket fall off the baby...
Feeling insulted, but then, lack of family bed held up my Leader
accreditation, too. Pam Easterday LLLL [log in to unmask]
