Michelle,
  Is there a way you can have a physician address this group regarding
some of the issues you raise, or some good review sarticles of the literature
available to them to consider. It sounds like your agenda for a first
meeting shouuld be to get the issues on the table and get to the
point where you can schedule further meeting(s) to discuss these policy
issues. This sounds like it's going to be along process and you
should plan accordingly.
