Kris,

A couple of years ago I sent for information on the White River Pump and the
nipple you mention was in there. It was supposed to help prevent nipple
confusion. I never went through with getting started with the company, so,
I never got to see if this was true. I am glad to hear that it worked, at
least for your client.

Pat mentions that the pump is really lousy. I never got to see it in
action, except on the video, so, I don't know. "Breastfeeding and Human
Lactation" by Riordan and Auerbach says that it is the pump that stimulates
the highest prolactin levels and the highest milk volume for mothers. But
mother satisfaction rated it as one of the most uncomfortable to use with
some reporting that the flange will occasionally pinch the nipple as it
collapses. I don't know, maybe that is why they are not as big as the other
rental pumps around the country. I am going to do a search on Lactnet to
see if this has been discussed before, but if anyone has any client or
personal feedback, I would be glad to hear it. My curiosity is at work,
again.

Thanks,
cheryl
