I recently opened a meeting by asking "What surprised you the most about 
becoming a mother?" That led to lots of discussion, and the most common 
answer was that women were surprised by how much and how deeply they loved 
their babies.

(and in reference to "having the second baby first" - my eldest son has more 
than once said that his younger siblings should send him thank you cards 
because I learned so much from having and raising him)
