I still feel that this baby may be at least partially ineffective with eating
because he is behind in the weight department. Until he has caught up, he is
likely to be a lazy feeder and he may truly not have the energy to do this
right. If that is the case, Mom's milk supply is certainly going to suffer (if she
truly has the capacity to make enough milk).

It also sounds as if Mom has a low milk supply. I, too, would expect an almost
one month old baby to be taking more than 2 ounces at a feeding.

The longer this baby goes without an adequate weight gain, the more likely he
is to have continued nursing issues and the more problamatic Mom's milk
supply may become. Has anyone considered beefing this baby up with more
milk: either donor milk, Alimentum, or regular formula? It would be interesting
to see whether or not this baby becomes a better feeder with more energy
and added weight.

I will also be waiting to hear the outcome of an eval for palatal issues and
whether or not Mom takes this baby for CST.

I had a case once where baby was almost 3 pounds behind where he should
ahev been at one month of age and it took a good two weeks
