Please note their definitions of breastfeeding:

Breastfeeding was categorized (according to the timing
of our questionnaires) as follows. The category “never”
served as the reference category and consisted of all
infants who never received breastfeeding. All breastfed
infants were categorized into the following categories,
according to the age at which any breastfeeding ceased:
before 4 months of age, 4 to 6 months, or 7 months.

Journal of Pediatrics, 2006!
How can one get any meaningful result with such definitions?
Do breastfeeding mothers stand any chance of succeeding with such
sloppy work as the basis for their care?

I'm so embarrassed by this study. It is done at my neighbor town university and they are so very proud of their longitudinal multi item project.
They also as a part of this project study the health differences between children raised mainstream vs alternative, the latter meaning according to Steiner (antroposofical) views and in practice meaning drinking organic cows milk vs regular supermarket cows milk.
Suffice to say that they never even considered asking real infant feeding specialists (LC's) to join in or even advise.

Warmly,
Gonneke, IBCLC, LLLL, embarrassed in southern Netherlands
