Dear all,
What about increasing the feeding frequency when their seems to be an intake issue? Postfeed pumping and feeding the pumped milk is just extra work that will give the infant too big feeds. Feeding more often will do the trick as well or probably better with less efford. ''Even'' CS moms can be learned how to get their baby and put her to the breast if she's within arm's reach.
As for the pediatrician ordering supplementation with formula: s/he should keep up with literature and read about the latest news on the hazards of topping off with formula and about formula-fed infants being overfed. S/He might reconsider the need to pour in these large amounts of milk at each feed.
