Regarding the mom of twins proposing to take "ginseng", it is very pertinent
to ask which ginseng she asking about - siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus
senticosis) or Panax species ginseng (Panax ginseng, P. japonicus, P.
quinquefolius principally)?

These two genera have been confused before ( interesting story). Hale has a
mini-monograph of both but first you need to know which plant you're being
asked about ( same as with brand names vs generic names - posting the generic
name is key).

It may be helpful to the mom to explore with her the specific reasons for
using the herb and who she has sought out for guidance? It is tempting to
assume the mom is in search of herbs reputed to increase energy ( toddler
twins - rational response !).
