There may very well be a connection from the immune system point of view.
People who have celiac disease have higher rates of cancer.  Studies point
to gastro cancers, mouth to anus, first, but I can see an elevated risk
factor for all cancers due to undigestable proteins.  A relative who got
diagnosed with CD last year just got diagnosed with prostate cancer this
year.  Some researchers think the trigger for female breast & ovarian
correlate with and parallel the rates, up and down, of male prostate cancer.
The same trigger may be diet and exposure to environmental toxins, as they
tend to be hormonal.

Elevated levels of prolactin are an indicator for juvenile celiac disease.
They were looking for a less expensive and easier way to diagnose large
populations.
