Hi Cynthia,

Am wondering if you ever had any answers to your post. I have heard that
clear (and many other colors of )colostrum/breastmilk is perfectly fine in a
couple of my classes that I have taken, but I don't know how long it would
actually be produced as clear we never covered that. I have the feeling that
mother usually gives up upon seeing the color but we must remember that if
baby were feeding at breast and not pumping we would not see the color, too
often, and might only see a problem if baby was not gaining or stooling
normally.

This reminds me of a girl I worked with in 94/95 who planned to 'try'
breastfeeding but came back to work and said that her doctor said that she
could not do so because her milk was totally clear and had absolutely no fat
so it couldn't possibly nourish her baby. Even then I wanted to tell her
differently but this was 12 weeks after the fact. And I always wondered how
she knew the color if she had just started out breastfeeding as I always
had. (Not inquisitive enough back then.)

Cheryl
