Hello Lactnetters,

I'm reading into Lactnet for a few weeks now, and I really have to say that
it's helpfull to me. My name is Renate Rietveld and I'm working as a
maternity nurse in the Netherlands. I've recently certified as an IBCLC and
one of the first things I did was subscribe to Lactnet.

I truly hope that all of you will forgive me my poor English writing and I
hope that after reading the documentation about Lactnet, I'm 'following the
rules' properly.

Today I've read the question about Dostinex ( 'Dostenex .25 mg').
Only thing I could find was "Dostinex, Cabergoline tablet 0.5 mg. It's a
Dopaminereceptor-agonist that suppresses lactogenesis in women postpartum.
It takes effect within 3 hours and lasts for 14-21 days in puerperal women.

Indication: to prevent or suppress postpartum lactation when there's an
urgent reason to do so and general measures didn't work".

The book I've found it in also states that 'with inadequate
lactationsuppression,breastfeeding is not advised'.

To me it looks like 'Bromocriptine', but that's just my two cents worth.
Hope this helps, there's some more info here about side effects,
precautions etc.
if you want it, i'll try to translate it and you can e-mail me. I'm afraid
otherwise my message becomes too long. Please let me know if my message
came in well, I'm always afraid that I did something wrong and it gets lost
in space .........

Renate Rietveld IBCLC.
