Thanks, Lisa.

Mom has been all over PubMed and has a pile of info with citations, but the
docs are still nervous because there are apparently a few hold-outs in the
literature.  She has the contact info for the Infant Risk Center so that
the doctors can actually speak to someone who knows what their talking
about.  Small towns have their advantages, but this is unfortunately not
one of them.
