I think the timing of this study being published along with Similac
launching a "supplementation" formula is highly suspect.
~~~ Wow, love this  wording...
"What can I expect when I supplement breast milk with formula?
You might notice several differences in how your baby eats after you begin
supplementing breast milk with formula. If your baby refuses the breast,
eats  faster, goes longer than usual between feedings, or does not pass stool
after a  few days, don't be overly concerned — these changes are common and
do not always  signal a problem. If these conditions last longer than a few
days, or if you  have questions about your baby's health, contact your
pediatrician about  possible milk intolerance."
also a new bottle!
"The new Similac® Simply Smart™ bottle was  designed with the help of
Similac®  StrongMoms® like you to improve the feeding  experience — from start to
finish — for you and your baby. _See how it works._
Well this is perfect timing: local practice tells new moms, it's ok  that
baby is still way
down in weight gain at a week, doesn't  sleep well, fists in mouth for long
periods before crying and 'asking to eat',  because "you can just give
formula. Pumping is a pain."
The perfect storm it seems...
