Thanks to all who have responded so far. It's been a pleasure reading these posts and related ones with other subject lines. Thanks to the chronological ordering of posts it will still be feasible to follow the discussion.

To Jennifer Tow, a special thanks, precisely because you contributed some serious thoughts on how the list has changed to become less useful for you. I hope others feel moved to comment, always mindful of our culture to promote courteous, albeit passionate, discussion. This listmother's heart is warmed by all the people who mention Lactnetiquette as a main feature that has remained stable throughout the years and kept them interested. I couldn't agree more.

To anyone who might feel they'd like to post but don't dare to, I say, DARE. You're in our living room, we are happy to have you here, and we want you to feel comfortable speaking up.

I will conclude this post with my wish for Facebook: that everyone on it follows the LN rule of thumb: don't post anything you wouldn't want to see with your name on it, on the front page of the NY Times - or the Guardian, which I must admit has replaced the NY Times in my world as The Newspaper.
