this is so true Heather.  I recently learned that one
of our local hospitals is not pursuing BFHI
certification because "the current system meets the
needs of our pediatricians" (bucknum is one) and "we
aren't Town X (the neighboring town with higher bf
initiation rates)", meaning "our moms don't need or
want to breastfeed on those levels".  I was heartsick
upon hearing this because of the grave
misunderstanding of what "baby friendly" means.

Is there anything about BFHI on the IBCLC exam?
