Hi Constance
We went with the recommended daily dose. I agree I generally am very
careful with herbal medications. In the instances for deep breast pain,
I have talked to the medical officer involved where appropriate.

How much primrose oil? Is it a tea? I've got to be honest, I've
never
used herbals, but I have a patient , a physician, who has deep breast
pain
(2nd child, had same problem with the first). We've tried everything
and
she's seen an MD who is also an IBCLC. I think she'd try anything by
now.

I have recommended evening primrose oil for women with deep breast
pain.
This was froma case study I read many years ago.

The first woman I tried this on was a medical officer so I could be
really frank with her and say this was based upon a case study. What
was
interesting was her report was that the pain really took a week to
start
settling and then was completely gone by a month on the evening
primrose
oil. She rang me back after her second baby having had the same breast
pain with a similar response to the evening primrose oil.

The problem is that the number I see or case discuss with others is
very limited ie probably 2-3 a year. So this is no sound practice.

I wonder if there are a range of causes of the deep breast pain and we
are using a bit of the hit and miss approach.

Gwen
