I've offered mothers a clothes peg, or a bulldog clip, when the
clothing has been getting in the way of things, and I sometimes offer
a scrunchy, to tie hair back, as this can be awkward, too. (If this
is a UK word, sorry! It's a cloth covered stretchy doughnut for hair.)
