Hi Yaffa,

I've always, even in my writing, differentiated between breastfeeding and
nursing, as in "let's do lunch" and "lets cuddle, snuggle & hang out". It is
easier for moms if we need them to look for nutritive vs. non nutritive
sucking, and easier to describe when they are insisting that the baby "ate
for an hour!!" There are some babies who breastfeed and are done. Slam,
bam, thank you mam - now on to something else. (My Torrey was like that).
And some babies, who would love to hang out forever after they are finished
eating. (My Timothy - once he got the "hang" of it, was like that). So, I
use both words, but to mean slightly different things. Both activities are
really important, but if you have a baby that just "nurses" and doesn't
"breastfeed" you are in more trouble than if you have a baby that just
breastfeeds, and doesn't nurse.
