Myra, you wrote:

after?"

Actually I should have written that the many components of breastmilk have
already been genetically engineered. Who they modeled it after, I haven't a
clue (law of averages?) Human lactoferrin, prolactin, and alpha-lactalbumin
are just the few of the components that have already been genetically
engineered. Even the DHA that seems to be the current rage is genetically
engineered--although this is done with micro-algae using fermentation. The
main reason for genetically engineering these components is not really for
making infant formula but for treatment of various diseases. (cancers,
diarrhea, hiv, inflammatory bowel disease--hey does any of this ring a bell?
Yeah all the advantageous of breastfeeding!!) Using pharm animals rather than
engineering them through cell culture is far more advantageous--one can make
far greater quantities.

I do not believe our beloved scientists will ever be able to duplicate
breastfeeding or its individuality. They may be able to duplicate to a
degree the components of breastmilk. But they will never be able to
duplicate the human need to suck at the breast. They cannot duplicate the
many and varied physical and emotional interactions between a mother and her
child when they breastfeed.
