 reading old posts it occurred to me while reading one of yours that we have
a problem...

  if we work under the thought that if mother's only knew the hazards of
infant formula then they would not use it...

  while we know that it is not OPTIMAL, and we know that there CAN be adverse
effects we also know that MOST children grow and do o.k....

   one can make a comparison with vaccines... we know that they protect MOST
children from harmful effects and we known that SOMETIMES terrible things
happen but we still encourage people to vaccinate....

   i think that we may need a different presentation in order to "sell"
breastfeeding.
