Here's something to consider, CA-MRSA. I just came across this article  on
medscape this week.
CA-MRSA is not responsive to the antibiotics doctors routinely use -
Augmentin, certain cephalosporins.  In this study they used Clindamycin and
Bactroban (Mupirocin) with success there's a table of drugs in the article.
A wound culture would probably help.
