Most mothers don't realize they have oversupply, and 9 lbs weight gain
in 2 months is clearly excessive. Most young babies will just guzzle
and put up with the milk flow, since they don't know any different.
They tend to be fussy, but want to feed since their tummies hurt. It
becomes a vicious cycle.

Extreme oversupply like this can cause a mild colitis. The breakdown of
the intestinal mucosa can admit allergens and trigger pretty severe
allergy, and cause intestinal bleeding as well. The egg that the
vaccines are cultured in may be a culprit, as can anything the mother
ingested.

Poor little guy.

Usually after a few days or weeks on neocate, the baby's gut is healed
enough to resume breastfeeding. If he can already suckle a partially
pumped breast comfortably, he is half way home. Now mom just has to
rachet down that incredible oversupply.
