Dear Lactnetters,
I am working with a mother who states that her breasts are painful after
feeding -- not the nipples, but inside the breast. She states that the pain
radiates to her back. Not excruciating or anything, but noticable. She
states not while breastfeeding, but after. The same with pumping. She has
not had antibiotics, nor has the baby. She is almost 3 weeks postpartum.
She did have some cracks on her nipple on day 2-3 but they healed well and
quickly and she just started noticing this breast pain in the last few days.
Could it be ductal yeast? or a breast infection? (no s/s of infection) or
could it be ducts filling with milk? or what else? I'd appreciate any ideas
or suggestions.

Thanks,
Cindi Swisher
