While I do have mothers in my practice who use and like the Avent Isis,
they do not obtain enough milk in a short enough time to make this a
proper substitute for a double electric rental pump. Several have tried
to use the Isis when I recommended a rental, and all called after one to
three days asking for the rental. The Isis proved tiring and milk yield
fell off over time for them.

I do recommend this pump to mothers who only need to be seperated from
their babies infrequently, and many find it effective. Others don't get
a drop from it, and some find it difficult to assemble correctly. The
quality control seems poor, and the parts don't always fit snugly enough
to generate sufficient suction to move milk.

Pumps are a funny business, even my favorite (Ameda Egnell's lact-e with
a dual hygeinikit) does not work at all for the (very) occasional mother.
