Our WIC Director is interested in starting an incentive program for the WIC
Breastfeeding mothers. I have been resistant to this because I am not sure
this is really something that makes women stick with it. I can't imagine that
I would stick with something I didn't believe in only because the WIC Program
was going to give me a picture frame or something if I did it for six months.
However I realize that other programs have done these kinds of programs. Does
anyone know what states have done this and how successful they really were?
Please feel free to e-mail me privately with this info.

A friend of mine had a baby 3 weeks ago. Last week she got an update letter
from her OB. In the letter he stated that if she was breastfeeding she needed
to drink lots of milk and if she did not decide to breastfeed she should not
drink any milk until she felt she was no longer producing milk. I guess he
thinks it really does go in the mouth and out the nipple! My friend and I had
a good laugh, however I wonder what the rest of the patients think. This is
the same practice that told me, when I called to survey their nutrition
education protocols, that they don't have any patients with nutrition problems
at their practice-all those people go to the clinic. Are they for real????
