I would never suggest not meeting the mother where she is. My point,
and I really think those who get it already did, is that this very
correct and appropriate thing to do can become an excuse for not
telling the truth, for defending the medical model, for whatever our
own agenda might be. I think having this debate is missing the point
entirely. If I want to meet someone who is in a dark place, I may well
be willing to go where she is, but I am surely going to bring along a
flashlight! I also accept that there are probably many people working
with motheirs and babies who themselves do not even recognize that the
model or sytem in which they work is the cause of so many problems.
Then, my question is, what is our responsibility to become educated
ourselves?
