Hi all,

I have been a lurker for years. I have been a La Leche League leader for 4
years and have 3 kids. I have put off my passion for documentary filmmaking
for a long time. I graduated from NYU's Film program with a concentration in
documentary production and worked for 20th Century Fox for a couple of years
before starting our family --- Our son Chas is over 6 years old now! Well, I
am FINALLY making the film on breastfeeding in our society that has been
gurgling in my brain for YEARS.... Partially encouraged by being asked to
stop nursing my toddler in a Radisson Hotel's restaurant in Cromwell, CT and
then reading about the comments made by Barbara Walters on THE VIEW, I feel
the time is NOW. My co-producer and Director of Photography is John Ash
Rovecamp (he has a wonderful website and book underway called When Mothers
Nurse. Check it out at www.whenmothersnurse.com . Anyway, if it is okay with
all of you, I will need your help over the next year! We are doing well with
our treatment/script, and we are starting the process of getting some "stars
of the lactation world" committed to an interview. You might get an email
from me soon :-)....though trying to capitalize on this hot news cycle
first! In the meantime, we are shooting nurse-ins and breastfeeding
newsworthy events as they happen. Any time you hear of something happening,
please let me know. In addition, if you have any footage on video from the
past you would like included in the film, I would love to hear about
it...and if you have something you feel would be important to include in
this film, please contact me offlist. This coming Wed we will be shooting
footage of the nurse-in in Poughkeepsie, NY.

The premise of the film is: One hundred years ago mothers nursed their young
while sitting in church. What has happened to us in the last 100 years to
make us all so squeamish at the sight of breastfeeding? Our goal is to
explore infant feeding and how it has evolved, as well as interview mothers
from as many cultures (in America) as we can. Our goal is to make a
well-researched well-represented and entertaining film. While very easy to
do, we are trying NOT to be too alarmist or angry in our approach...humor is
often the best teaching tool!

Thank you for making me a better La Leche League leader and mother, dear
LACTNETTERS !!

I enjoy being part of this community!

Love,
