It is true that from scientific point of view the term "massaging the data"
may mean looking at the data in other ways.  However, the way that this term
was brought up here, it appears that it indicated a way to change the data to
reflect what was needed.  If I remember correctly, the hospital was required
to have X hours of bf education, and they were going to "massage the data" to
reflect the required amount.  In this case I believe that they weren't
interested in finding the facts, only meeting the requirement.  Truth didn't
seem to be an issue.
