This newspaper article on PCBs in breastmilk and then India Knight's article
is cause for concern. India Knight I can dismiss as someone who is obviously
misguided and who feels judged for not breastfeeding her own child. I
suspect, though, that the article on PCBs was planted by a formula company.

Why do I say this? The article states the study is not published yet!!!This
seems mighty strange to me. I would think one would publish first and be
peer reviewed and then announce the findings. But gee I guess we don't have
to go through that process.

One must ask whether the infants in this study who were breastfed were
exclusively breastfed or were also getting formula? I think the Coutsaudis
study shows us that it is exclusive breastfeeding that confers the most
protection against infection. But gee we can't look at the study to see
exactly how they did it.

The other question I have is the study comes from Holland, isn't Numico based
in Holland? Who funded this study? Don't know because the study isn't
published yet.
Frankly the media does little investigative reporting anymore. Is reporting
a study that isn't even published yet doing the public any good? Instead
what it promotes is fear and confusion. Who gave that story to the
newspaper? I"d bet on some formula company. Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC
