If the doc does not respect the WHO, there are a few lines in Lawrence
that state that breastmilk is not dehydrating, and a baby who is
vomiting or has diarrhea should be maintained on the breast.

Here is a tiny snippet of a short article I recently wrote for Medela's
faq section that might be helpful:

If baby becomes dehydrated and the doctor recommends oral electrolyte
maintenance solutions or oral rehydration, the World Health Organization
recommends continuing to breastfeeding during and after rehydration
therapy. (link to http://whqlibdoc.who.int/hq/1995/WHO_CDR_95.3.pdf)
Babies who continue to breastfeed during diarrhea recover faster,
continue to gain weight better, and have fewer, smaller stools during
the illness. Research shows no advantage to using lactose free formulas
or diluted feeds in a breastfed infant with diarrhea (Wan, Huffman).

treatment of diarrhoea.
