What is amazing is that the thread about tongue tie reflects what I have
been discussing with colleagues here, and abroad. It is not normal that so
many babies have posterior tongue ties which affect breastfeeding. What I
am noticing in this thread is how many Lactnetters report that they also had
tongue tie. Is there any way to take a survey?

How many of you had tongue tie at birth?

Was it treated?

Do your offspring have tongue tie?

I was born in 1949. In the hospital release form it is written that I had a
tongue tie and it was corrected. ( in my opinion, I still have posterior
frenulum)

My middle daughter has a type 3 tongue tie, and her tongue elevation is very
poor. She transferred milk poorly and did not gain weight as she should
have.

My grandson ( from a different daughter) has a posterior tongue tie and did
not have problems breastfeeding. He is two and a quarter. His esses are
not great, but he is not talking enough to make a decision if his speech
will be affected

Anyone else?.
