Hi Marie
Well this is a new one on me. I am going to suggest that the milk is the
same temp as body temp. Once it is expressed it is going to cool quickly,
esp. if the ambient air temp is cool - does she keep her house 68 degrees F
like some folks do? Therefore taking the temp of the expressed milk is not
accurate IMO becoz it is going to cool during the few minutes it takes to
get a temp. Or even 78 degrees F is alot cooler than 98.6! If the baby
consumes it directly from her breast and it goes into his warm little tummy,
then it should still be about 98. I would reason all this out to her, and
then explore other ways to deal with the baby's behavior. I do not believe
it has anything to do with cool milk. For the record, if the milk is coming
out of the freezer or refrig I do recommend that the milk be warmed, as I
feel that is more physiologic and gentle on the baby's system (ie what he
expects).
