Hi Lactnetters
For all of you who love Mythology, I have 3 references about the Milky Way.
There are several versions of the origin of the Milky Way. It seems that
Hercules was sucking at the breast and slipped or was pulled off by Hea and the
spilled milk scattered and became the Milky Way. Another version said that Zeus
was putting the baby, Hercules to the sleeping Hera's breast. She awoke, and
the spilled milk became the Milky Way. Zeus is the fathers of Hercules.
Dr Johanna Goldfarb talks about the Milky Way in her " Breastfeeding Handbook"
on page 33 ,First edition.
I read this with interested and a couple of years ago sent her a note asking
about her references and she was very kind to send me the references so with
that I pass them on to all of you.
