Holding (cuddling by mother) increases brain oxytocin receptors in
infant monkeys, and normal oxytocin receptor development makes a monkey
less vulnerable to alcoholism as they grow up. Touch/mother deprived
monkeys are more likely to abuse alcohol when it is available to them in
a laboratory setting.
So we have not only the hormone, but it's receptor too to consider.
