I doubt that circumcisions are that profitable, but really do not know. Why
often? I do know parents insist on them. We give literature, the
Pediatricians and Ob's give information stating this is unnecessary surgery. The parents
choose them anyway. Why early? MD and parent convenience, better
availability of supplies, insurance preference to cover during hospital stay. The baby
will then be watched by the hospital nurse with frequent checks to pick up
problems, not easily done in the office. I even had a Jewish couple yesterday
getting it done before discharge. Mom requested Kosher food, but a circumcision
on the second day of life!
